Abstract: The extensive reservoir evaluation expertise within the oil and gas sector is crucial for advancing new energy technologies, such as geothermal. This presentation will explore how methodologies traditionally used in hydrocarbon exploration and production can be adapted to enhance geothermal energy development. It will highlight the adaptability of core reservoir analysis techniques, including log analysis and formation evaluation, to the unique conditions of geothermal systems, emphasizing their vital role in effective resource management. The session will feature case studies that showcase recent successes, particularly the application of unconventional reservoir technologies to geothermal energy, demonstrating the direct benefits of transferring oil and gas knowledge to new energy contexts.
